So it was an old airfield track?
No, a proper road racing circuit, three and a half miles long, Hill called it a mini-Nurburgring. It was on an estate owned by a local politician, big breeder of trotting ponies, name of State Senator Woods.
State Senator? This track wasn't in Cardiganshire then?
Brynfan Tyddyn? No, it was near Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania

I was taken to Brynfan Tyddyn by my brother in the summer of 1956. We enjoyed the 500cc class racing and was mightily impressed with the Mercedes Benz blue articulated truck carrying, I think, the 300SLR racing car. My lasting memory was to listen to Caroll Shelby changing up through the gearbox coming up the hill through the woods in, I believe, a 2 litre Ferrari. I have a few reasonable photographs and the program for that event if anyone is interested.

I was at the last race in 1956. Our church had a food stand at the track. I met Carroll Shelby after the race. I was 7 years old at the time. It's to bad that they stopped racing after that. I have driven around the course more times than I can remember.
