Banished From Builth

With the promised inner-gateway public sculpture eagerly awaited by the art loving citizens of Llandrindod, it would be as well to remember the fate of this statue commemorating that fine Breconshire poet Harri Jones.

Once it graced the main thoroughfare of Builth Wells until scorned and emasculated by the perspicacious Wyesiders it was finally forced to retreat to the grounds of a Llangammarch hotel.

  1. You've gone a bit swish in my absence Mr J. Had the instruction manual out have you? Perhaps you could work on a photoshop of Plwm's head on that statue whilst you're feeling adventurous.

  3. Emasculating the statue seems appropriate comment on the shameful way that the poet was ignored for many years in his own land. Funny how so many of those are now at the forefront of the minor celebrity that is the "Harri" industry.

It took a secondhand book, a native Canadian , a man of Llanafan and a one-time Cardiff resident to help kickstart the T H Jones revival... but that's a story for another time.
